CID prepares for future
The Excelsior Springs Westside Committee recently gathered to discuss financial updates regarding the Community Improvement District’s (CID) onecent sales tax for the future of their financial projections.
Chamber of Commerce President Brian Rice, explained the taxes collected through November totaled $40,671. December’s totals have yet to be reported, he noted, due to some establishments on the west side operating on a quarterly payout.
“Some businesses pay monthly, some pay quarterly,” he said. “And since we’re in January, we don’t have our rhythm yet; it’s going to take a full year before we get a real gauge of income.”
He did, however, note all the businesses on the west side of Excelsior Springs are complying with the new one-cent tax established in October 2023, and the CID is experiencing an influx in revenue. Rice said a bank account has been set up locally to keep the monies secure for planning.
