CID tax takes effect for ES westside
The Westside Committee announced the Community Improvement District (CID) has begun collecting its new tax at participating locations.
The new one-cent sales tax is planned to go toward improvements in the westside area of the city, and Brian Rice, Chamber of Commerce president, explained that he will track the data once he has access to the Missouri Department of Revenue’s online database for him to see what business are collecting the tax and the amount of funds being collected monthly.
“The numbers get uploaded online,” Rice said, “Once I gain access, I can look and see what we are collecting, how much and who we are receiving the tax from.”
Currently, 82 establishments are a part of the CID, with most of them already collecting the additional one-cent sales tax that will be redirected back to the district. The delegation of funds for the area will then be distributed for infrastructure, security, streetscape, burying power lines, roadway improvements, parking lots, snow removal…
