City zoning board approved variance for QuikTrip

The Excelsior Springs Board of Zoning and Adjustments recently passed a new variance allowing QuikTrip to have a new sign for their up-and-coming Excelsior Springs location. Doug Hermes, the city planning consultant, addressed the board and presented the application explained under city ordnance chapter 403 which states signs placed “must not exceed a maximum of 100 square feet.” QuickTrip requested to install their sign with a square footage area of approximately 118.45 square feet. “Earlier this year, the applicant received a preliminary plat and site plan approval for a convenience store and an urgent care medical facility,” Hermes said. “The applicant has since advised the city they have revised their plans.” Since QuikTrip is waiting to present their revised plans, they submitted an application to move forward with their signage for the new development.
