Class available for dementia care
EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – There is an increasing need for information to help caregivers of dementia patients in our community, educator Sharon Senger stated.
To help fulfill this need, a free support group will be offered for caregivers for eight to nine weeks. The first meeting is from 6 to 7:30 p.m. June 12 at Barbee Memorial Presbyterian Church, 501 Tiger Drive, Excelsior Springs.
“Each weekly session will include viewing a DVD giving information and tips on how to work with dementia patients in a positive, caring way,” Senger stated. “The DVDs are helpful, easy to follow and sometimes entertaining. They are the product of Teepa Snow, an expert in the field of caregiving (for) dementia patients.”
There will be a time to ask questions and share experiences with others.
