EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – There is an increasing need for information to help caregivers of dementia patients in our community, educator Sharon Senger stated. To help fulfill this need, a free support group will be offered for caregivers for eight to nine weeks. The first meeting is from 6 to 7:30 p.m. June 12 at Barbee Memorial Presbyterian Church, 501 Tiger Drive, Excelsior Springs. “Each weekly session will include viewing a DVD giving information and tips on how to work with dementia patients in a positive, caring way,” Senger stated. “The DVDs are helpful, easy to follow and sometimes entertaining.
