Clay County sheriff releases fiscal report
A historic time for Clay County Sheriff’s office was marked with in 2022. The office – which celebrated 200 years of service within the Clay County region in 2022 – is the largest law enforcement agency in the Northland area.
The office recently released its 2022 Fiscal Report, detailing statistics for the year:
• A 25.8-percent increase in inmate booking, with a 25.6 percent increase in inmates released.
• Nearly 1,000 inmates have been brought in and out of the jail population since the beginning of 2022.
• A 133-percent increase in traffic safety aimed at impaired driving arrests. Those arrests total a staggering 39 percent reduction in fatal traffic accidents.
Road patrol has reported 7,892 traffic stops for the 2022 yearly report. Of those traffic stops, 2,928 ended with a traffic citation, 4,293 were non-traffic citations, 222 DWI arrests and 497 traffic crashes.
