Community Champions nominees requested by SAFE Coaltion
EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – The Excelsior Springs Substance Abuse Free Environments, or SAFE, Coalition seeks Community Champion Award nominees.
The SAFE program is designed to educate the community about the importance of 40 developmental assets in a child’s experience to assure the child thrives throughout life.
Each award focuses on a specific asset. For January, SAFE seeks nominations to recognize an Excelsior Springs adult who is supportive of community youth.
“Research shows us that it isn’t only parents that provide valuable support to our youth to help them succee and grow,” SAFE Program Director Julia Mees said.
Mees said a neighbor, activities coach or teacher, or other positive adult can be someone who contributes to a youth’s successful development.
Additional information and a nomination form for th Community Champion Awards program are available a www.excelsiorspringssafe.com/community-champion. The submission deadline is Jan. 30.
