EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – Police Chief Clint Reno has the go-ahead to buy a new patrol vehicle. The City Council approved Reno’s request Nov. 2 to buy a 2020 Ford Police Interceptor Utility all-wheel drive patrol vehicle, priced at $34,500 by the Lou Fusz Automotive Network in Chesterfield. Lou Fusz “orders a supply of Ford police utility vehicles at the end of the model year cutoff, so as to have a stock of them available for purchase by police agencies across the state … when there is no availabilit of production vehicles,” Reno stated in a memo to city officials. Production for 2020 police vehicle models ceased in April, Reno stated. Per the memo, the vehicle will replace the department’s 2019 Ford Police Interceptor, which was totaled in August during a chase. The city received $23,921 in insurance compensation, Reno stated.
