DARI B: Here’s the Scoop
EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – For many residents of Excelsior Springs and surrounding areas, what will happen to the Dari B is on par in importance to the pending national elections, foreign trolls and the tariff war.
“I love it! I’m having cotton candy (ice cream),” Sylvia Linard, 9, says, while devouring a cone and looking like an old “Got milk?” commercial.
Linard is one of a new generation of customers who continue in the Dari B tradition. She inherited her interest in the shop from her mother, Melissa Linard, 42. While standing on the sidewalk beside the ice cream stand, Melissa shares a memory of Halloween nights.
“If you came in costume as a kid, you would get a free small cone. It was a lot of fun,” she says.
The rumor around town is no rumor – Dari B owner Tommy Carroll, 70, confirms he plans to retire.
Will the Dari B close? Will there be a new owner? Will longtime customers still be able to get piled-high cones, banana splits, sundaes and concretes?
