Clay County deputies safely took an armed man into custody on Jan. 20 who was wanted for a home invasion in Buckner. Gladstone Police requested assistance when they located a stolen car being driven by 27-yearold Phillip T. Martin at 3:24 p.m. Previously, on Jan. 19, Buckner Police Department had issued a public alert trying to find Martin, who was to be considered armed and dangerous after a home invasion. Martin fled from Gladstone Police and deputies while going in the wrong direction on Interstate 435 near N.E. 108th Street. Martin then drove off I-435 into a field near Cookingham Drive, got out of the car, and fled on foot. Two deputies pursued Martin on foot and identified a gun in his hand. The deputies continued to pursue Martin while requesting him to drop the gun. Martin refused while continuing to flee and asked the deputies to shoot him. One of the deputies deployed his taser, striking Martin. Martin fell to the ground, and the deputies took him safely into custody. It…
