District leaders get peek at plans for new Lewis building

Excelsior Springs School District leaders were given a sense of what a new Lewis Elementary School might look like Tuesday night. Deputy Superintendent Jaret Tomlinson invited Patrick Smith, chief architect, to address the board during its monthly meeting. Smith is office director and client leader with Incite Design Studio’s (IDS’) Kansas City office, who is serving as chief architect for the district’s long-term facility plans. As The Standard reported last spring, IDS is recommending the district replace the current Lewis Elementary building, open since 1951. Presenting what he called “some pretty pictures” via a Power- Point presentation, Smith displayed some renderings of the proposed design for the Lewis Elementary facility, to be located on the same grounds as the current school.
