Downtown events draw visits by thousands, statistics show
On July 18 at the Hall of Waters, city leaders got a look at how much foot traffic recent events had drawn to downtown Excelsior Springs.
Lyndsey Baxter, Downtown Excelsior Partnership executive director, presented a breakdown of the second-quarter downtown foot traffic during the City Council’s regular meeting. Baxter’s report, provided in the meeting packet, examined four events – the Chocolate Tour, Sippin’ Into Springtime, the Wine Festival and Waterfest.
The data, collected by Placer Labs Inc. through its artificial intelligence software, revealed the following commonalities:
• Every event drew at least 1,000 visits and visitors: Waterfest, a twoday June event, led the way with 8,468 visits and 8,383 visitors. After that, in descending order, were the Chocolate Tour, 2,219 visits and visitors; Sippin’ Into Springtime, 2,036 visits and visitors; and the Wine Festival, 1,647 visits and visitors.
