EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – Boy Scout Troop 313 member Landen Summers completed his Eagle Scout project, a Blessing Box food pantry, to reach the Eagle Scout rank, the highest possible rank in the Boy Scout program. The Eagle Scout project demonstrates a scout’s ability to take an idea, create a plan and lead a project to completion. Summers’ idea for a Blessing Box food pantry got stuck in his head several years ago after the little food pantry concept became a national movement. As a young boy, Summers served in a food ministry program. Through his experiences, he learned firsthand how food can become a conduit out of which many blessings flow, support information states. “The Blessing Box food pantry is, in and of itself, not a solution to hunger. It does not take the place of important food pantry programs and other community resources.
