EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – Boy Scout Troop 313 member Landen Summers completed his Eagle Scout project, a Blessing Box food pantry, to reach the Eagle Scout rank, the highest possible rank in the Boy Scout program. The Eagle Scout project demonstrates a scout’s ability to take an idea, create a plan and lead a project to completion. Summers’ idea for a Blessing Box food pantry got stuck in his head several years ago after the little food pantry concept became a national movement. As a young boy, Summers served in a food ministry program. Through his experiences, he learned firsthand how food can become a conduit out of which many blessings flow, support information states. “The Blessing Box food pantry is, in and of itself, not a solution to hunger. It does not take the place of important food pantry programs and other community resources. Instead, the food pantry Blessing Box becomes an opportunity to meet an immediate need, whether that means giving or receiving,” scout support information…
