ES boys open with losses to Lexington, Fort Osage
Excelsior Springs ran into two high-scoring offenses to open the varsity boys basketball season.
On Nov. 28, the Tigers hosted Lexington, a program that has gone on to average 72.75 points per game through four games. Excelsior Springs lost 60-28.
On Dec. 1, Excelsior Springs hosted Fort Osage, an Independence-based program that has gone on to average 71.33 points per game through three games. The Tigers lost 70-23.

Lexington used a fast-paced offense and pressure defense to take control early, jumping out to an 8-0 lead. The Minutemen went on to lead 20-4 after one quarter.
The Minutemen then outscored the Tigers 12-6 the second quarter to lead 32-10 at halftime. Sparked by an 8-2 run, Lexington put it out of reach with a 23-11 third quarter.
Easton Ryan paced the Tigers offensively with 10 points. The junior also grabbed 12 rebounds for a double-double.
