The Excelsior Springs City Council received an update on home repairs made for local residents by Northland Neighbors Inc. (NNI) during a recent meeting. NNI is a nonprofit organization dedicated to neighborhood improvements working with residents and organizations to improve homes, neighborhoods and communities. Through home improvement projects for low to moderate-income citizens, NNI works with low- to moderateincome homeowners in need of minor home repairs, including roofing, heating, cooling and minor structural upgrades. “A few years ago, NNI went after grants that we could use anywhere in the northland and it has been successful,” NNI Chief Executive Officer Deb Hermann told the council. “NNI started a formal partnership with Excelsior Springs and had one significant project last year.” The home NNI helped repair included $22,000 in improvements, with the city contributing $4,200.
