ES girls golfers add another conference title to trophy case
EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – The Tigers are conference champions in varsity girls golf again.
Last week, the Tigers won a regularseason conference title – one of their team goals – with a sweep of Pleasant Hill and Warrensburg. On Monday, they accomplished their second goal: winning the Missouri River Valley Conference Tournament team title.
Excelsior Springs won the tournament title by shooting a combined 413 for the day at Mules National Golf Club in Warrensburg, topping second-place Warrensburg by 13 strokes.
Pleasant Hill finished third, followed by Richmond and Odessa. Harrisonville, the other participating school, did not have a complete team.
This year’s individual champion was Excelsior Springs senior Hope Chappel, who claimed her second consecutive MRVC tournament championship by shooting a 94 (+24) for the 18-hole, par-70 round. Teammate and junior Kailey Sejkora finished second overall with a 100 (+30).
