ES Hospital staff presents swing bed care
Robin Davidson, registered nurse case manager and Misty Watson, licensed practical nurse and utilization review analyst, recently discussed the Excelsior Springs Hospital’s Swing Bed program with those in attendance at the Community Center’s Senior Center.
Swing bed care, a program designed for individuals who need additional care to recover from surgery, illness or injury, is now available at the hospital to provide transitional care for those not ready to leave an acute care setting and unprepared to go home.
Davidson said the program is designed for smaller hospitals for Medicareestablished patients who need transitional care before going home or entering a long-term care facility. She noted the program provides skilled nursing care and rehab services, including physical, occupational and speech therapy nursing interventions.
