With the mission of providing community-driven healthcare, Excelsior Springs Hospital (ESH) is taking another step in innovative health and wellness services. Partnering with the community, ESH will now be providing meals to the public through Café 1700. “The café is here to provide quality food at a reasonable price to employees, patients and the community,” said Teressa Horn, ESH’s Nutritional Services Director. Café 1700’s goal is to advance hospital food and people’s experience with the nutrition provided. “Café 1700 wants to be the best place to eat in Excelsior Springs,” she said. Horn noted the only way for the café to be the best is by staying organized and clean in the kitchen and by tasting their food for quality while following the health department’s regulations. Being the best also requires “working together as a team and doing the best we can, fixing problems when they are seen,” Horn said.
