ES man faces felony weapons charge

A felony charge has been filed against an Excelsior Springs man.

Last week, a warrant was issued and served to Landon C. Hurt, 21, for the felony charge of unlawful use of a weapon. Shortly after the warrant was served, Hurt appeared before Seventh Judicial Circuit Court Judge Louis Angles. He entered a plea of not-guilty and was advised to immediately apply for a public defender.

When appearing this week for a bond reduction hearing, he requested a continuance, which was approved by Angles. Hurt was ordered to appear in court again at 9 a.m. on August 27.

Hurt is currently in the custody of Clay County Detention Center with a bond of $10,000.

According to the complaint filed by Clay County Assistant Attorney Angela Ravkin, the range of punishment for the class E felony is imprisonment in the custody of the Missouri Department of Corrections for a term not to exceed four years; or by imprisonment for a special term not to exceed one year in the county jail or other authorized penal institu…
