ES man facing two felonies, pleads not guilty

An Excelsior Springs man pled not guilty to two felony charges after allegedly assaulting a federal officer during an altercation. Jacob G. Pendleton, 42, appeared before Seventh Judicial Circuit Court Judge Louis Angles for an arraignment hearing last week. He pled not guilty to the two felony charges of second-degree assault and leaving the scene of an accident, physical injury. Judge Angles accepted the plea and urged Pendleton to submit an application for public defender services immediately. Court documents show that Pendleton applied for public defender services the day after the hearing but was denied because he was not deemed indigent. According to the probable cause statement, on March 18 Kansas City Police Department (KCPD) officers responded to Quick Trip on Northeast Cookingham Road, Clay County, for an altercation resulting in assault.
