An Excelsior Springs man has entered a plea of not guilty for one felony charge of unlawful use of a weapon and a misdemeanor charge of animal abuse. Dylan J. Crowley, 27, was seen at Clay County Courthouse before Seventh Judicial Circuit Court Judge Louis Angles for an arraignment on Nov. 15. Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Nicholas M. Romano appeared on behalf of the state. Crowley entered a plea of not guilty and was told to apply for a public defender immediately. Two days later, on Nov. 17, Private Attorney Timothy D. Tipton filed an entry of appearance on behalf of his client, Crowley. Crowley is currently in custody at Clay County Detention Center with a bond of $75,000 cash or surety. The probable cause statement regarding these charges shows all officers’ and victims’ names as redacted, they will be referred to as Officer and Victim.
