An Excelsior Springs man facing two felony charges had four motions approved in Clay County Court this week, as he prepares for his upcoming trial. Ronald D. Lana Jr., 45, is facing two felony charges of first-degree assault or attempt to cause serious physical injury or special victim and armed criminal action. Lana, who posted bond and was released on April 12, appeared with Public Defender Kevin D. Garrison before Seventh Judicial Circuit Court Judge Shane T. Alexander for a pre-trial motions hearing. Garrison filed four motions through the court – motion requiring the state to disclose all deals, agreements, considerations and favorable action in return for testimony of state witnesses; motion regarding prior bad acts; motion regarding conduct during trial and motion for restrictions on the state’s opening statement.
