ESACC ready for SkillsUSA district competitions

The Excelsior Springs Area Career Center (ESACC) students are getting ready for the next SkillsUSA competition. ESCC has 47 children registered for the upcoming district events that will take place on Feb. 13, 16 and 20. “To feel prepared to go to a competition, it is all about the work and practice you choose to put into it,” said Local Chapter Student President Maxwell Williams. As a second- year participant, he feels more confident than he did before. SkillsUSA is a nonprofit national educational association that serves middle school, high school and college or postsecondary students preparing for careers in trade, technical and skilled service occupations. “We encourage all of our kids to know how important it is to be prepared for the workforce after they leave us,” explained ESACC Director Ben Rubey. “This is their first step into what a professional organization looks like.” According to skillsusamo. org, the mission is to empower students to become skilled professionals,…
