ESPD welcomes Officer Chaffee

Picking a new place of work can be a challenge, but the newly sworn-in Excelsior Springs City Police Officer said he chose the city with ease. Officer Trevor Chaffee, a 22-year-old Smithville resident, graduated from the Regional Police Academy of Kansas City in May 2023 and was sworn in by Excelsior Springs City Manager Molly McGovern on July 7. Although options were plentiful, Chaffee said ESPD stood out because of the “care the Excelsior Springs Police Department (ESPD) puts into their community and officers. “I looked at a couple of different police departments, but when I came to Excelsior Springs, I felt respected,” Chaffee said. “I felt like this department would put me in the best position to succeed.” ESPD Lieutenant Ryan Dowdy is excited to bring Officer Chaffee on to the team “because he has a fantastic passion for police work and serving his community.
