ESSD board discusses upcoming school year

With a new school year approaching, the Excelsior Springs School District (ESSD) Board presented details on upcoming enrollment and changes or updates happening within the district at a recent board meeting. ESSD Superintendent Dr. Jaret Tomlinson mentioned in his report that summer school would be held May 29 through June 21. For elementary students, school days will be Monday through Friday from 8:15 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. at Cornerstone Elementary. The named theme is ‘Once Upon a Summer Adventure’ and a four-week curriculum has been planned. Week One – Places and Landmarks “Exploration of airports, farms, castles, museums, skyscrapers, travel destinations, Mount Rushmore, Washington D.C. and National Parks.” Week Two – Sports and Leisure “Explorations of athletes, teams, work ethic, talents, hobbies and interests.” Week Three – The World Around Us “Exploration of land, oceans, mountains and space.” Week Four – Exploring and Beyond “Exploration of camping, hiking, research,…
