ESSD welcomes new teachers to start school year

Three new teachers have joined the Excelsior Springs High School for the 2022-23 school year. Katherine Jacobsen, Lennon Puls and Stephen Houck are the faculty members. Jacobsen will be an English language arts (ELA) teacher. “I’m so excited to be coming back to Excelsior Springs High School, where I began my career as a teacher in 2003!” said Jacobsen. “Excelsior Springs offers countless opportunities for student growth in the classroom, at home and in extracurricular activities.” Jacobsen comes to Excelsior Springs from Lawson, where she taught ELA, creative writing and literature appreciation. She has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Missouri, a master’s degree in teaching from the University of Central Missouri (UCM) in Warrensburg and a specialist’s degree in curriculum and assessment from William Woods University in Fulton.
