ESYWC advances 16 to Region A Tournament
On Saturday, 16 Excelsior Springs youngsters will pursue their dreams of being state-qualifying wrestlers.
Representing the Excelsior Springs Youth Wrestling Club (ESYWC), the grapplers will compete that day in the Missouri USA Wrestling Region A Tournament at Staley High School in Kansas City. The top four finishers in each age/weight division will advance to state competition, slated for March 25-26 at Hy-Vee Arena in Kansas City.
The youngsters qualified for regionals by placing among the top six in their respective divisions last weekend in district competition at Chillicothe. Of those 16 qualifiers, four were division champions: Karli Grass, 10-and-under, 55 pounds; Jrayton Salmon, 10U, 90; Kennedy Grass, 12U, 65; and Logan Bates, 12U, 105.
In other results, 12U wrestlers Braxxton Vosika and Lilly Smith
took second at 210 and 250, respectively. ESYWC’s third-place finishers were Mac Gear, 8U, 115; and Sam Drexler,
12U, 120. Brayden Robinson took fourth at 14U 105.
