EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – The budget is set for Excelsior Springs’ 2020-21 fiscal year.> Approved by the City Council on Sept. 21, the budget is set at $8,420,508. The total is based on the projected revenue the city expects. Roughly half the revenue – $4,536,633 – is expected to come from tax collection. The other income sources expected to generate more than $1 million are charges for services, $1,200,500; and miscellaneous or “other” sources, $1,399,825. Community development is the largest projected expense, budgeted at $5,899,532. General government expenses also top $1 million at $1,197,376. City Manager Molly McGovern provided additional breakdown of expected expenses in a Sept. 16 memo to the council and Mayor Sharon Powell. Work on sidewalks and streets is expected to cost $1.8 million, with those expenses expected to cover asphalt overlays on Dunbar Avenue/Street, Miller Avenue and Jesse James Road. ?...
