Excelsior Springs Community Center expansion on track
EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – Phase II planning to expand the Excelsior Springs Community Center “is moving right along,” Director Jesse Hall told city leaders during a work session.
The City Council held a special meeting Aug. 30 to approve a change order for Olsson Inc. to conduct topographical research to determine if the park could divert rainwater from the center.
“They’ll check on the feasibility with the civil engineer over there,” Hall said.
“The initial plans” for expansion had been sent to the Excelsior Springs School District, which donated land for the expansion. He also said talks are underway with Superintendent Travis Hux and Board of Education President Tray Harkins “to look at the land acquisition.”
A tentative agreement will be in place next month, Hall said. The final agreement will be set if the council gives approval following the Steering Committee’s meeting in December, Hall said.
