Excelsior Springs council agrees to lease carts for golf course

EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – New golf carts are expected at the golf course in roughly five to nine months. Shortly before the City Council approved an agreement May 16 at the Hall of Waters to lease a fleet of Yamaha gas-powered vehicles, Shane Gardner told city leaders the shipment from distributor Masek Golf Car Co. was expected “somewhere between Nov. 1 and probably Feb. 1.” Gardner is a partner with Orion Management Solutions, the Leawood, Kansas-based company that oversees the Excelsior Springs Golf Course. As stated by City Manager Molly McGovern in a May 10 recommendation memo to city leaders, based on a 60-month, “lease, no trade” agreement, the city will make monthly payments of $8,314 to $49,884 each year and $249,420 overall. The agreement also requires “Masek/Yamaha to take ownership of the cars at the end of the current contract and provides that the city will not own the cars at the end of the proposed lease in 2027,” McGovern wrote.
