Excelsior Springs Hospital welcomes new CFO

The Excelsior Springs Hospital board of trustees met to welcome new Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Matt Untch and to discuss their ongoing fight to obtain an Employee Retention Tax Credit from 2021. Untch introduced himself to the board and said he has worked in health care for over 25 years. He explained health care has been in turmoil, and he feels there is an opportunity for him to make a change. His main goal coming to Excelsior Springs Hospital is to “focus on cash collections and the financials,” he said. Cameron Meyer, the previous CFO, “projected an end of year $1.8 million loss, and getting into cash collections to break down the barriers created to hold down the hospital will improve the finances and get funding quicker.” In addition to his welcome, Kristen DeHart, chief executive officer, explained to the board that the hospital is still fighting to obtain an Employee Retention Tax Credit.
