Fire department gets monitors/defibrillators

EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – The Excelsior Springs Fire Department has three new monitors/defibrillators. The department received the LifePak 15 Version 4 monitors/defibrillators in October, following requests this summer to city officials. In August, department personnel requested them during their meeting with the Public Safety Sales Tax Oversight Committee and police department personnel, as Interim Chief Bill Stewart stated in a Sept. 4 memo to the City Council and Mayor Sharon Powell. The department’s request received council approval Sept. 8. Priced at $18,365 per unit – plus $11,340 for a three-year maintenance plan that covers all three monitors/defibrillators – the units are being bought on a 36-month installment plan, Stewart stated. Per his memo, money from the city’s public safety sales tax is covering purchase and maintenance costs.
