Funds raised through Tortoise & Hare 5K

The Excelsior Springs Good Samaritan Center recently hosted the 23rd Annual Tortoise & Hare 5K Walk and Run. Every dollar raised through registration fees went toward the Good Samaritan Center to help their mission of alleviating hunger and homelessness in the Excelsior Springs community. The event was sponsored by Other Trails Coffee and Goods and Dubious Claims Brewing Company. The 207 runners and walkers gathered outside Other Trails Coffee southside door when the air horn sounded at 8 a.m. Traveling along the scenic 5K course, each participant received a t-shirt with the original artwork provided by local runner and artist Holly Spencer. Victor Hurlbert of Liberty and Mary Beth Daniels of Independence both won first place overall and received a $100 gift card to The Running Well Store.
