The Good Samaritan Center’s (GSC) mission is dedicated to preventing homelessness and hunger by providing for basic needs and teaching life skills through their personalized case management programs. Jennifer Chapel, program director, explained each program offered by the GSC is designed to fit the needs of individual circumstances, including finding a suitable place to live through their housing case management program. “The program does not guarantee housing, but we help those that are ready to be housed,” Chapel said. For homeless individuals, the program evaluates past circumstances such as evictions, outstanding rent and unpaid utilities that may have caused a barrier when looking for future housing.
