Residents of Excelsior Springs are invited to the Household Hazardous Waste Collection event Saturday Sept. 9 from 8 a.m. to noon at Richmond City Hall, located at 205 Summit Street. All household waste products are allowed such as paint, paint related products, automotive fluids, batteries, lawn and garden chemicals, glues, adhesives and household cleaners, batteries and fluorescent lightbulbs are accepted except for electronics. “All products should be in their original container; if it has been put into another container, it will be asked at the drop off location what it is in order to separate all of the materials into different bins,” said Chad Birdsong, public works director. “All of the waste is separated into different bins at the drop off location such as latex, oil base paint, batteries, lawn chemicals, household cleaners and fluorescent light bulbs.” Mid-America Regional Council (MARC) advises proper disposal of household hazardous materials in order to protect the…
