On Dec. 22, 2023, an unidentified deceased white or Hispanic male aged 35-40 was uncovered at 14812 Old Quarry Road in Excelsior Springs, otherwise known as Rocky Hollow Park. According to Clay County Sheriff’s Office Public Relations Manager Sarah Boyd, the deceased male was found during the morning hours on Dec. 22 by a county park worker who was conducting routine maintenance and called in what he discovered. She added the location of the unidentified male was near the roadway on the east side of the park in a ditch with apparent trauma-induced markings, and that the body was found quickly and is being handled as a homicide. According to Boyd, the Kansas City Police Department’s Crime Team Investigation Unit began its investigation immediately after making the discovery. Boyd urged the public to help in any way they can.
