Hospital approved for interfund loan

Excelsior Springs City Council authorized an Interfund loan to the local hospital in the amount of $125,000 on Oct. 13. Molly McGovern, city manager, said the city has been in conversation with the hospital and believes, at this time, they are able to assist the hospital with funding. She explained each transfer for the funding will be designed as a short-term cash flow loan with transfer amounts of up to $125,000. The money will only be granted to the hospital following a board of trustee meeting where they must agree to the terms. The terms for the funding mechanism laid out in a resolution explain that the city manager is to authorize the loan at her discretion and can execute up to three subsequent transfers over the next three weeks from the city’s general fund to the hospital’s general fund.
