Hospital receives more grant monies for psychiatric services

The Excelsior Springs Hospital Board has received a $1.433 million grant to continue funding its psychiatric services for families and children, an increase of $1.093 million over 2022. The announcement was made at a recent meeting of the hospital board. “We were granted $1.433 million this year, up from $340,000 from last year, and our first quarter of the second year is more than what we did altogether in the last year because we have staffing onboard,” said Chief Executive Officer Kristen Dehart, noting the hospital began introducing psychiatric services to the community in 2022. Thus far in the first quarter, the hospital’s psychiatric services have seen 180 children between the ages of 4-19 and have conducted 230 prevention screenings with 34 intervention services being provided.
