One name will appear on the ballot for Clay County auditor when voters head to the polls Aug. 4, as Victor S. Hurlbert is unopposed in his bid for re-election as Clay County auditor.

Hurlbert, 39, of Kansas City’s Northland, is a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in political science with honors, and Midwestern Theological Seminary, where he earned a master’s degree in theological studies. He has served as Clay County auditor since 2019 and previously served on the North Kansas City School Board. His background also includes work as a financial advisor, business owner and Naval intelligence officer. He currently serves as an Army Reserve intelligence officer.

Hurlbert said he wants to continue building on the county’s recent financial progress.

“We’ve come a long way from one of the most embarrassing counties in Missouri to truly one of its top performers,” stated Hurlbert. “Now it’s time for us to excel to the highest standards, not just in Missouri,…
