Inside Out makes Excelsior Springs a great place to ‘escape’

Gather your friends and head to the Crown Hill Shopping Center for your next big “escape.” The Inside Out Escape Room is open. Getting in is easy. Getting out is a different story. Inside Out is owned by Je-anne Rueckert, who by her own admission, is a Halloween person. Rueckert, a former teacher at Metropolitan Community College, has turned that passion for the Oct. 31 holiday into her escape room business. Located at 137 Crown Hill Road in Excelsior Springs, Inside Out has been operational since June 2021, but has only been open since March of this year, she said. The business offers two experiences: the “Jumanji”-inspired jungle room and the pirate-themed Captain’s Quarters. A third room, Frankenstein’s Laboratory, is in production, according to Rueckert.
