The Clay County Investigative Squad Task Force has joined the investigation of Timothy Haslett Jr.

Haslett was arrested on Oct. 7 and is being charged with first-degree rape, firstdegree kidnapping and second- degree assault.

The force was activated by the Excelsior Springs Police Department (ESPD).

“The task force is a multijurisdictional entity, comprised of members from multiple municipal law enforcement organizations within Clay County, as well as members of the Clay County Sheriff’s Office and the Clay County Prosecutor’s Office,” stated a press release by ESPD Chief Greg Dull.

The investigation of Haslett continues, though investigators are looking further into other crimes Haslett might have committed.

“We (Clay County Sheriff’s Department) and ESPD did confirm there were no deceased individuals located at the house. Investigation is ongoing to determine whether Haslett is connected to any other crimes,” said Sarah Boyd, public relations manager, Clay County Sheriff’s Office.

Dull also commented in his press release that investigators “have checked with law enforcement agencies in the Kansas City metropolitan area and there are no current missing persons reports that correspond with the evidence examined so far in this investigation.”

The bond reduction hearing for Haslett has been rescheduled for Nov. 8. The hearing was originally scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Oct. 18. His bond is set at $500,000.

If released on bond, Haslett is to have no contact with the alleged victim, he cannot possess any type of weapon, and prior to release, must have GPS monitoring. Haslett also will have a preliminary hearing on Dec. 2.
