Levy remains unchanged amid questions over Ray County figures
Excelsior Springs will keep its property tax levy unchanged for 2026 as city officials seek a review of some assessed valuation figures provided by Ray County.
City council members recently held a public hearing on the proposed tax rates, during which no public comments were made, before unanimously approving an ordinance setting the city’s combined property tax levy at $1.0051 per $100 of assessed valuation for the 2026 tax year.
The levy includes $0.5449 per $100 of assessed valuation for the General Revenue Fund and $0.1534 each for Parks, Recreation and Hospital. Each rate remains unchanged from 2025.
Combined assessed valuation increased by $5.94 million (2.48%) from $239.57 million in 2025 to $245.50 million in 2026.
Despite the overall increase in assessed valuation, Councilman Stephen Spear asked whether there were concerns about the accuracy of the information received from Ray County.
