Local author Elizabeth Wenig, 77, has paired her love of writing and knowledge of herbs to craft a new book, “Favorite Flu Fighters,” launching in Nov. of 2023 on Amazon. com to educate people looking for an alternative to traditional medicines through this year’s cold and flu season. Wenig began her journey learning about medicinal herbs when she was in her 20s, when she was suffering relentless menstrual pain. That’s when a close friend decided to help and guide her to a tincture that could help. “I’d never even heard of herbalism or using herbs before then,” she said. Afterward, she picked up the tincture of herbs, took a dose and went to her son’s wrestling match.
