Local law enforcement hosts Christmas events
Local law enforcement agencies recently hosted separate Christmas events for community children to foster better relationships between youth and law enforcement, as wel as to assist those who may be in need.Excelsior Springs Police Department (ESPD) hosted its annual Shop with a Cop event on Saturday, Dec. 14.“Shop with a Cop is a community outreach event in which police officers take kids shopping to buy gifts for themselves and their families that they may otherwise not be able to afford,” said ESPD Lieutenant “The children are selected in conjunction with the school resource officers and social workers from the school district.”On Sunday, Dec. 15, the Clay County Sheriff’s Office, in collaboration with the Claycomo Police Department, organized their annual Shop with a Sheriff event.“In our annual Shop with a Sheriff event, deputies go shopping with underprivileged students from the North Kansas City School District, where we serve as school...
