Local nabbed for fentanyl trafficking
On March 26, the Clay County Sheriff’s Office, combined with the efforts of the Excelsior Springs Police Department, served a search warrant in the 1000 block of Rowell Street in Excelsior Springs.
Eight people inside the suspected apartment were initially detained when the STAR (Special Tactics and Response) Team served a narcotics search warrant, according to a press release from the sheriff’s office.
“We ultimately took three people into custody — one who had a previous warrant and two for the drug investigation,” a press release from the sheriff’s office stated. “ Gary W. Gillispie, 37, has now been charged with trafficking drugs and is being held on a $20,000 bond. Gillispie is accused of trafficking fentanyl. Investigation is ongoing into the others’ possible involvement.”
The Excelsior Springs Standard will continue to follow this investigation.
