As previously reported by The Standard, the local Red Cross Pharmacy, located at 1018 N. Jesse James Rd., is part of the larger purchase of the Red Cross franchise, completed by CVS Pharmacies.
While the Kearney location will close due to its close proximity to an already-existing CVS Pharmacy, the brick-and-mortar location in Excelsior Springs will remain open. Furthermore, there will be no staff changes.
“It will be the same brick-and-mortar location,” explained CVS Senior Manager of Public Relations Amy Lanctot. While the current location is smaller than a typical CVS Pharmacy store, Lanctot added that it will still feature a “small mix of health and beauty products.” Customers will also be able to enroll in the CVS ExtraCare Loyalty Program.
The hours will remain the same at the location, at least for the immediate future, Lanctot said. Furthermore, current Red Cross Pharmacy patients do not need to do anything in order for their prescription services to continue.
“Prescription records and insurance information will be transferred to CVS Pharmacy when the deal closes, which is expected to happen on June 8,” Lanctot explained. “On Monday, June 11, the store will reopen as a CVS Pharmacy and it will be a seamless experience for patients.”
The Red Cross program, Lids4Kids, ended effective April 30.
