Lumsden enters not guilty plea

An Excelsior Springs resident entered a plea of not guilty to multiple charges, including armed criminal action, during a criminal setting hearing earlier this week. Wyatt Dean Lumsden, 19, of Excelsior Springs, previously posted 10 percent of a $25,000 bond, on two felony charges including: unlawful use of a weapon and armed criminal action. He is also charged with one misdemeanor, fourth-degree assault. Lumsden appeared in person with his attorney, Joshua Smith, who requested a preliminary hearing date be set. Ray County’s Eighth Judicial Circuit Court Judge Lori Baskins accepted the not guilty plea and set a 10 a.m. Aug. 1 court date. Lumsden will also appear before Circuit Seven Municipal Court Judge Shawn Blair at 5:30 p.m. July 27 to answer to a resisting arrest charge received while being taken into custody by Excelsior Springs Police Department (ESPD).
