EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – City leaders expect residents and visitors to mask up more during activities in town. On Dec. 21, the City Council passed a resolution backing a revised emergency order issued in November by the Clay County Public Health Center in Liberty. The department order is designed to curb the spike in coronavirus cases in the county and elsewhere. As the city resolution states, the center’s order mandates “all employees or visitors to any public accommodation to wear face coverings” in spaces and/ or during activities that preclude implementing social distancing guidelines, as recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and other health agencies. “Individuals are encouraged to implement their personal responsibility by wearing face coverings as required to help keep others safe both in public places and as appropriate outdoors and to eliminate putting businesses and the health department in position of enforcing the standards,” the resolution states.
