Missouri agencies observe Human Trafficking Prevention Month

The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) and the State Highway Patrol (MSHP) are spreading awareness about Human Trafficking Prevention Month. Earlier this month, Colonel Eric T. Olson, superintendent of the MSHP, announced the Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division took part in a five-day human trafficking awareness program to educate commercial drivers, motor carriers law enforcement officers and the general public about trafficking, what signs to look for and what to do if a situation arises. Human trafficking, according to the State Highway Patrol Division, is an illegal exploitation of another person through fraud, coercion or force. It can also take many forms, including sex trafficking, forced labor or domestic servitude, and is not restricted to age, race or gender. Trafficking incidents can occur in any area, including rural, suburban and urban regions across the state.
