Missouri bicentennial display opens

EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – A steady flow of guests has streamed into the Excelsior Springs Museum to view the Missouri statehood exhibit that continues through May 14, museum operations director Kathy Duncan said Tuesday. “It’s been very good, actually,” Duncan said, with the help of a statewide program, Bicentennial Passport, designed to attract guests to communities celebrating Missouri’s 200th anniversary. “We’re getting a lot of people from all over … Missouri who are coming in to see the exhibit. The word has gotten out that it’s here and we’ve had several in every day.” Traffic to the museum is up because of the display, which bodes well looking ahead, she said. “We haven’t hit our busy season yet,” Duncan said. “It’s been very good so far.” The exhibit is ideal for students, but schools are concerned about the pandemic and are not allowing field trips, Duncan said. “It is not possible,” she said. “I was hoping to get kids and wanted it, … but COVID hit, so we couldn’t get the…
