Morris receives state teaching award
Andrew Morris, an eighth-grade U.S. history teacher at Excelsior Springs Middle School (ESMS), has been named the 2025 Missouri Council for the Social Studies (MCSS) Middle School Teacher of the Year. The award recognizes Morris’s dedication to innovative teaching and his impact on students’ civic engagement and critical thinking skills.“Mr. Morris has built a reputation for creating innovative and thought-provoking lessons that inspire students to explore the foundations of citizenship, democracy and government,” said ESMS Principal Dr. Brett Coffman. “Through hands-on activities, simulations, and interactive discussions, he encourages students to think critically about the world around them and their role as active citizens.
